  • Material culture of the Persian Gulf region, especially in the Early Islamic period
  • Settlement patterns in Eastern Arabia in the Early Islamic period
  • Artistic and architectural traditions of Islamic societies 
  • Stucco as a decorative material in historic architecture 
  • Urbanism: the theory and development of cities in the Islamic era

  • 2024–present: Jumeirah Archaeological Research Project (Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Dubai Culture and Arts Authority)
  • 2022–present: The Persian Gulf in the Umayyad and Abbasid Periods as an “Artistic Region” (funded by the National Science in Poland)
